I didn't know what happened to my Mom and brothers and sisters. I was lonely. One day this nice human found me in a cardboard box and took me to a place called St. Tammany Humane Society, and guess what! My tummy is full! I got a bath and a clean hat, and met a lot of other orphans who told me that I was at the largest no kill animal shelter in Louisiana. What's a Louisiana? The other orphans told me that wasn't important, that I would be loved and cared for, and maybe some nice family somewhere in the world would want me to be a part of their family, since I didn't have one of my own anymore. I got a clean, warm place to sleep because one of the other puppies got a home. What's a home? I never had one before. Maybe the nice folks at St. Tammany's will find me one in some foreign land where I will have to learn to bark in another language--they do that you know.

SMAK!Down Challenge!

Today is U.S. Tax Day (well, you have until the 18th apparently) For all you folks that can thank the U.S. Government for using your money interest free all year, I'm reissuing my challenge.  I got a refund from Uncle Sam this year, and I put 10% of my tax refund in my Unleashed Club 2011 contribution fund.  I am challenging you all to do the same!  Hit the donate button!  It's tax deductible for 2011!

This Site is a Work In Progress!

Dear Friends,
I am a totally rookie fundraiser, and I hope you will be able to help me in my attempt to raise funds for the St. Tammany Humane Society (STHS) in Covington, LA.  As you may or may not know, I traveled to New Orleans last November to attend an event called Unleashed--it was for this very organization.  Attending inspired me to do more this year, so I and 24 other people committed to raise $2011 each for the 2011 event.  I don't know what anybody else is doing, but 100% of the funds I raise will be donated to this cause!  And it's tax deductible for contributors!

What can $2011 do?  It costs $2000 to ship 20 puppies across the country via transport.  $2011 can save 20 dogs' lives.

My biggest challenge is how to convince people to help me raise money for a shelter that isn't even in my (Dallas) area.  Here's some info about STHS for you to consider:

1)  It's the largest non-profit, non-governmental no kill animal shelter in Louisiana (since 1953)
2)  When space is freed up at the shelter itself, they go to other shelters to get animals that are on "death row" and bring them to the no-kill shelter to give them a chance of being adopted
3)  They have sent animals across the US to meet their new families (also sent them to as far as Costa Rica & Spain even)
4)  Louisiana & the Gulf Coast have the highest overpopulation in the US for animals, meaning more animals are in danger of being euthanized
5)  They have a partnership with several shelters around the US so they will ship animals across the country to help them find a home.

I am taking this one day at a time.  Eventually I hope to have a more formal blog or web site.  That way I can post news and updates, etc....  But for right now, I am just slogging along looking for ideas.  If you would like to contribute, hit the PayPal button or contact me for snail-mail instructions.  You can also link directly to STHS by clicking on their logo below!

I would be so grateful if you could just take a minute to consider my cause.  What might seem like a small thing for you would mean a great deal to the animals I am aiming to help.  As I said, I am a complete amateur when it comes to fundraising--and would sincerely appreciate your help in supporting St. Tammany's!

Thank you for your generous support!

An April SMAK! for You!

Well, it's the beginning of another new month, and I've managed to squeeze a little more out of folks in support of Ian Somerhalder Unleashed Club 2011.  I would LOVE to blow the top off that little thermometer!  Ticket sales are reportedly going FAST!  Ya'll should remember, every Club 2011 member has 8 tickets in their possession!  Just Sayin!  Watch for my new number on St. Tammany Humane Society website to go up to.....$1438!
